This 2-hr workshop is the second module of 'Be A Samaritan' Programme (BAS) after SP101. It aims to equip participants with the practical skills of first responding using the “3A” approach.
Enrollment in this course is by invitation only

About this course

Using roleplay, participants will learn to demonstrate the 3A approach in responding to someone suicidal:

  • Identify suicide distress (Alert)
  • Use empathy and suicide question when approaching someone in suicide distress (Approach)
  • Match community resources or help available for person-in-distress (Assist)

What you will learn

On completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify the 3'A' in suicide first responding
  • Identify the distress through facial expressions, and body language
  • Identify steps to safe approaching
  • Demonstrate engagement with the distressed person using empathy
  • Ask the suicide question
  • Identify, and articulate relevant community resources for the distressed person
  • Demonstrate basic safety plans with the distressed person
